A day is spent at Sardes, capital of King Croesus, the king of ancient Lydia.
Located at the foot of a steep acropolis hill, we will first visit the Temple of Artemis.
We drive along the golden river of Pactalos and the Royal Road.
We then visit the Gymnasium magnificently restored to its former glory. A Synagogue was later added as part of the Gymnasium can also be visited.
We drive back to Izmir in the afternoon. We enjoy a great panoramic view of the city and the Gulf of Izmir.
We visit Kadifekale, Museum of Archaeology and the elegant Clock Tower.
We also spend some time in the traditional bazaar.
Return to the hotel in the afternoon.
